WK Construction, originally known as “WJM Construction” before a management buyout, was founded in the year 1993. Since its inception, the company has become one of the biggest independent civil engineering contractor firms in southern Africa. They have been a major role player in the construction of roads, railways and pipelines in South Africa and are able to provide cost effective and innovative infrastructure development within the SADC region.

WK Constructions expertise include: Roads and Earthworks; Crushing and Screening; Pipeline Construction; Trenchless Construction; Concrete Structures and Township Infrastructure and Roads Services. The company is a a full member of the South African Federation of Civil Engineering Contractors (SAFCEC), with CIDB gradings including 7 GB; 7 SD; 8 ME and 9 CE.

About The WK Construction Bursary 2021:

Every year, WK Construction invite Civil Engineering students to apply for their bursary programme. Students who are pursuing Civil Engineering (BSc) studies in 2022, can apply for the bursary award.

Selected candidates must have completed their first year of study or be able to prove that they will do so before the awarding of the bursary.

The WK Construction bursary provides cover for all study related expenses.


Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must have completed Matric
  • You must be studying full time towards a BSc Civil Engineering qualification
  • You must have completed your 1st year of study OR be able to prove that you will do so before the end of 2021
  • You must be studying at a recognised tertiary institution in South Africa
