  • This role manages profitability & delivery of new business in a region. The role is individually accountable for execution of sales strategy through other managers and their teams over a 1-2 year period. The successful incumbent should understand markets, economic and political opportunities in the region and be able to deal with environmental threats by managing and minimizing risk.
  • It further manages all stakeholders in the regional market, with a strong emphasis on relationship building and networking to rebuild and grow business.  This candidate will also be responsible for building a high-performance ethic in the region amongst employees, managing resources such as markets and technology in the region and managing support processes in region. The successful candidate will be based either in the Free State or North West region.

Provincial General Manager’s KRAs

Key Area Responsibilities include

Management Effectiveness:

  • builds a high-performance ethic in the region amongst staff
  • Defines and implements sales best operating practice
  • Defines performance parameters (incl. balanced scorecard) and measurements for area under supervision
  • Develops MOs and specialists under supervision
  • Holds first line managers accountable for managerial work, including selection, performance management and talent management
  • Selects potential MOs to sustain pipeline

Regional Distribution Strategy:

  •  Gathers market intelligence & incorporates information into the regional strategy
  • Implements regional strategy with clear and measurable action plans on branch level
  • Individually accountable for execution of sales strategy over a 1-2 year period
  • Review effectiveness of strategy and re-align continuously
  • Understands markets, economic and political opportunities in the region and deals with environmental threats

Resource Management:

  • Manages resources such as markets and technology in the region

Risk Management:

  • Ensures Financial Services Industry regulations are adhered to
  • Manages and minimizes business risk in the region

Sales Support:

  •  Manages the support processes in the region

Sales / Productivity:

  • Drives operational excellence throughout area of supervision
  • Ensures that the region meets its budget
  • Manages profitability & delivery of new business in the region through other managers and their teams
  • Responsible for building & growing the business in the region

Stakeholder Management:

  • Manages all stakeholders in regional market
  • Strong relationship and networking focus

Old Mutual Provincial General Manager Requirements:

  • Tertiary Qualification (Post Graduate qualification will be an added advantage)
  • FAIS compliant
  • 5-10 years Insurance Managerial Sales Experience
  • 5-10 Experience in the Financial Experience
  • Clear credit and criminal records
