Diesel Mechanic Job Description:

The above position is vacant at the Cape Town CIT Branch, the Cash-in-Transit department seeks to employ a Mechanic at the mentioned branch office, reporting to the Branch Manager. The overall purpose of this position is to repair the company vehicles when needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Clear criminal record
  • Must be a qualified mechanic i.e. Trade test passed for petrol and diesel mechanics, to work on various vehicles
  • Have at least 5 years’ experience diesel mechanic background
  • Own tools essential
  • Experience working with Hino 300’s; Hilux D4D’s; MP200’s is an advantage
  • Drivers License (preferably code 10)
  • Own transport is an advantage
  • Be prepared to work irregular hours i.e willing to work shifts and work overtime

Job Specification (not totally inclusive):

  • Must be able to work unsupervised
  • Must have knowledge of different types of vehicles
  • Servicing of vehicles
  • Day to day maintenance on vehicles
  • Must be able to compile paperwork for each vehicle
  • Must be able to rebuild a diesel and petrol engine (various makes of vehicles)
  • Assisting with basic workshop duties
