Department of Science and Innovation’s: Internships 2021

Call for applications to participate in the Department of Science and Innovation’s National Youth Service Programme. Unemployed graduates (18-35 years of age) are invited to apply to join the 2020/21 intake for the Department of Science and Innovation’s National Youth Service Programme. A total of 54 places is available at various Gauteng schools, mainly for science, technology, engineering and mathematics graduates.

The programme, which is part of the government-wide National Youth Service initiative, places selected volunteers at various institutions (e.g. schools, universities, science councils and NGOs) across the country, allowing them to gain workplace experience for 12 months while offering a service to the community.

Participating volunteers will be paid monthly stipends at the following scale:

  • NQF Level 6 National diploma R4 500
  • NQF Level 7 Bachelor’s degree/BTech R5 000
  • NQF Level 8 Honours degree R5 500
  • NQF Level 9 Master’s degree R6 500
  • NQF Level 10 PhD R7 700
