Job Profile Summary:

Key purpose of these role is to support with LP runs for Strategic Planning, Business Planning and greater than M+4 production planning focusing on significant event changes from the business plan.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES:

  • Contribute to safe, reliable and compliant operations of Fuels SA and SAPREF
  • Generate LP runs and mass balance for annual 5 year strategic planning and support formulation of the strategy plan P&L (review price set from IST and create localised price set, review demand from CBM team, review base case crudes, set up LP runs, support financialisation of plan, support GMC sign off, generate slides for leadership sign off and generate slides as requested by ESA reporting team)
  • Generate LP runs and mass balance for annual business plans and support formulation of the plan P&L (review price set from IST and create localised price set, review demand from CBM team, review base case crudes, set up LP runs, support financialisation of plan, support GMC sign off, generate slides for leadership sign off and generate slides as requested by ESA reporting team)
  • Generate LP runs and mass balance for greater than M+4 when there are changes to business plans events
  • Provide inputs for Supply Demand Balance pre-reads
  • Support Business Development with LP runs for strategic capital projects
  • Support Planners on LP runs that have strategic intend
  • Perform Grey Sky studies as part of RAID studies
  • Perform Blue Sky studies for crude selection
  • Support pre-reads in monthly CBM meetings (Refining, Supply & Operations and 3 Months Rolling Plan)
  • Provide inputs into monthly executive managements meetings (Refining & Supply Review; Management Business Review and ESA Monthly Performance Review)
  • Support Business Analysis Management team to generate Refining Vice President Quarterly Performance Review, ESA Chief Operating Office Quarterly Performance Review and BPSA Board slide packs
  • Support RAID Analyst for retro studies and implement retro studies improvement including sharing lessons learned with SAPREF and ensuring implementation of the retro studies improvements
  • Support LP Analyst on new SAPREF LP model assurance and health status of the LP model

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering or equivalent

Required experience:

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience on refinery operations and commercial optimisation

  • Attention to detail and drive to ensure data integrity
  • Excellent team player, able to build working relationships across departments
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • Able to understand and communicate complex concepts
  • Good computer skills
  • Good experience with using Refinery Linear Program (LP) models
